What we test

Testing that's simple and done at home

Every Bejka membership includes at-home blood testing. You take a small finger-prick sample, post it back, and a UKAS-accredited UK laboratory analyses it. [TODO: lab partner name and UKAS accreditation number]

Important: Bejka tests are for wellness information. They are not a diagnosis and don't replace your GP. If anything in your results needs medical attention, we'll tell you clearly and suggest you speak to your GP. [TODO: confirm escalation process with clinical lead]

How often you test

MembershipTestHow often
EssentialsAt-home finger-prick blood testOnce a year
TransformBlood test with a clinician reportEvery 3 months
EliteAdvanced panel of 80+ markersEvery 3 months

What we measure

The exact markers depend on our lab partner's panels, which are being finalised.

  • Ferritin (iron stores): used to decide whether iron is included in women's strips.
  • [TODO: Essentials panel biomarker list, confirmed with lab partner]
  • [TODO: Transform quarterly panel biomarker list, confirmed with lab partner]
  • [TODO: Elite advanced 80+ marker panel list, confirmed with lab partner]
  • [TODO: Hormone markers for Elite hormone-health consultations, confirmed with clinical lead]

We'll only list a marker here once our lab partner has confirmed it's part of the panel.

How sampling works

1. Your kit arrives. It comes directly from our lab partner in your test month, with everything you need and a prepaid return envelope.

2. Take your sample. Follow the instructions in the kit. [TODO: lab guidance on fasting, time of day, hydration and what to avoid beforehand]

3. Post it back. [TODO: return-post guidance, e.g. which days to post, from lab partner]

4. The lab analyses it. [TODO: typical turnaround time from lab partner]

How your results work

  • Your results appear in the Bejka app [TODO: confirm results delivery: app, email or both], with a plain-English explanation of each marker.
  • Essentials: your strip is adjusted to your results.
  • Transform: a clinician writes a report on your results, and you can talk them through with your coach.
  • Elite: your named clinician reviews your results with you in your monthly video call.
  • Reference ranges are those used by the lab. A result outside the range doesn't always mean something is wrong, which is why we explain results in context.

Your data

Blood results are health data, which counts as special category data under UK GDPR. We only use them to provide your membership, and we never sell them. [TODO: link to privacy policy; data controller details; retention period]
